While you're waiting...

Waiting is part of life.

We're waiting to start school.
We're waiting to finish school.
We're waiting for a good job, a better job, any job.
We're waiting to meet the right person.
We're waiting for the baby to arrive.
We're waiting for the kids to grow up.
We're waiting for people to change.
We're waiting for things to get better.

But waiting is hard work. We can become impatient and anxious. We worry about things not working out. We worry about missing out. We worry about what if's. At times, it can be hard to be patient with our circumstances in life and with other people.

But while you're waiting, remember these truths:

God is always in control. Even when everything seems to be out of control. We become impatient and anxious when something is out of our control. We tend to focus on us doing more, trying harder, working longer. But don't leave God out of your thinking. Trust that God is still in control. Because He is!

God is not only in control, He is always working things out for our good and for His glory. Even when it seems like nothing is happening, God is doing something good in our lives.

Remember the cross. From human perspective, things looked out of control. The Savior was suffering. God's Son was dying. It seemed like God wasn't much of help.  But waiting through the dark hours leading up to the resurrection, we see God making sure that everything turned out right in the end.

So don't give up. Don't despair. Don't lose heart. Remember whose hands you're in. God who loves you. God who cares about you. God who is for you.

"They who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength" (Isaiah 40:31 ESV)
